Nonprofit Entrepreneurial Orientation in the Context of Cross?Sector Collaboration

Triggered by budgetary challenges and growing awareness of social needs, recent years have seen increasing entrepreneurial behaviour in the nonprofit sector, which collaboration with for-profit organizations is a case point. Yet, while extant research has extensively studied orientation (EO) organizations, scant attention been paid to its manifestations cross-sector context from perspective, even though numerous organizations’ idiosyncrasies point need for reconceptualization EO dimensions that domain. Thus, taking our aims explore dynamics nature nonprofit–business (NBC), examining how core manifest themselves when (NPOs) proactively engage NBC. We unpack meaning through two complementary empirical studies. Our work nuances rather overlooked posture so-called ‘active-in-collaboration’ NPOs, exposes new meanings collaborative (relational proactiveness, relational innovativeness risk management), discusses their underpinning mechanisms suggests promising areas further implications practice.
